
<p>Imaging major Canon India and Nikon India have engaged in a battle over numbers that can escalate in the days ahead, with both claiming to hold the numero uno position in DSLR (digital single reflex camera) market in the country.</p><p>Imaging major Canon India, for the first time, has toppled its arch rival Nikon India in the DSLR segment in the last quarter. Quoting industry trade data, Canon India's VP Alok Bharadwaj said, it was now at the numero uno position in the DSLR camera market for the first time in history of inception of the camera major in India. But this has resulted into a tussle between the two camera giants as Nikon India has denied losing the pole position and giving away any market share to Canon India.</p><p>Nikon India, since its foray into Indian market, has been maintaining leadership position by strong margin in the DSLR segment.</p><p>According to Bharadwaj, the latest trade figures based on compilation of imports data, show Canon India has managed to corner a 50% share in the DSLR market while Nikon is in the second position with about a 45% share.
