Canon's top-shelf consumer camcorder is a "perfect 10" in our book, and follows smartly in the footsteps of its high-end predecessor.</p><p>Importantly, Canon's flagship consumer HD camcorder has finally caught up with the competition, offering full-HD 1080/60p recording. While the lack of onboard memory is puzzling, you do have slots for two memory cards. That's a feature that the G30's dual shooting mode takes advantage of, allowing you to simultaneously record to both SD cards. One card gets a full-HD version, while the other gets an identical video at 720p resolution, with a significantly smaller file size.</p><p>The G30's predecessor, the G20, set a very high bar, but the G30 did see some noticeable improvements. The video is much sharper on the G30; the battery life is greatly improved; and the 20x zoom is double what the G20 offered.
