
<p>Freediver Amanda Cotton captured these incredible shots with a sperm whale while diving off the coast of Dominica in the Caribbean. She says it took her a few minutes to work up the courage to get close enough, but she just couldn't resist shooting that once in a lifetime shot: a "whale selfie."</p><p>"Having spent several minutes with the sperm whale and realizing she was quite comfortable with my presence next to her, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to shoot a once in a lifetime selfie," Cotton said in an interview with Caters News Agency.</p><p>(MORE: Creepy Underwater Life Will Shock You!)</p><p>Although getting so up-close and personal with such a large animal might seem scary, Cotton says she actually felt quite comfortable. "These whales pose no threat to the divers," Cotton explained.
