
<p>The president of Olympus Corp., the world's leading maker of endoscopes, said his company will focus more on training doctors in newly emerging economies as part of a strategy to ramp up sales.</p><p>"In the endoscope business, it is necessary to develop doctors who will then utilize the devices," President Hiroyuki Sasa said.</p><p>Sasa also told The Asahi Shimbun in an interview in Tokyo Nov. 18 that Olympus will strengthen its sales promotion activities across Southeast Asia, notably in Malaysia and Indonesia.</p><p>Olympus, based in Tokyo's Shinjuku Ward, accounts for about 70 percent of the world's endoscope market.
