
<p>Price: $1639 (street price as tested with 18mm-105mm lens) Good gets better</p><p>THE LOW-DOWN</p><p>The D7100 is an upgrade of the fine D7000, increasing the pixel count to 24 megapixels, improving the size and resolution of the LCD and, among other refinements, removing the optical low-pass filter to increase image sharpness (see tinyurl.com/px892ft for an explanation of the OLPF). The autofocus system has been upgraded. For the rest, it is still a rugged, weather-sealed camera with excellent ergonomics. It has two SD card slots that can be configured for overflow or to record JPEG and RAW on different cards.
